Newcastle District Golf Association - Program for 2024
An NDGA Order of Merit Competition was introduced during 2016. The competition was based solely on points awarded for performances at various Club Open Major Events and NDGA events between February and November .
The main objectives of this competition are: 1) to promote Golf in the District, particularly participation of elite golfers in Club Open Major Events; 2) to recognize outstanding performances within the District in these events; 3) to use the results to assist with selection for NDGA representative teams.
Annual event contested between teams of 21 players from the 4 Districts contained in Zone 2, namely Central Coast DGA, Newcastle DGA, Hunter River DGA and Lower North Coast DGA.
The NDGA Junior Pennant series is constantly under review. In 2016 we implemented a new format - with 18 hole handicap matchplay, modified scoring system and teams selected in a handicap sequence.

Karuah Men's Open
The Karuah Open has been played for over thirty years, since the club was formed in 1983.
In more recent times it has become the club's Seafood Day, where players can enjoy local prawns, oysters and fish after their round.
The Event is an 18 Hole Stroke in 3 Divisions. 0 - 12, 13 - 21 and 22 - 36. Field is limited to 72 players.
In 2015 the Open was moved to a Sunday with a shotgun start, which creates a lot more atmosphere, and a chance to have a playoff if there is a tie for the title.
In addition to it being a separate event, the Karuah Open is now also part of the Short Courses Championship. This inaugural competition is played at nine nine hole courses which include courses in the Hunter, Lower North Coast and Newcastle District Golf Associations. A player's best four rounds count towards a total to win a scratch and a net championship, over nine courses Open events.
Play by invitation only to those persons that have made a significant contribution to golf and its administration.
