It is my very sad duty to have to inform the members of the Newcastle District Golf Association and the golfing community that we lost one of our best in the early hours of Tuesday February 23 – with the passing of our NDGA Hon Treasurer, Philip Davies, after a 2.5 year battle with MND.
Philip was a well-known and respected barrister; He was a past Director and popular member of Newcastle GC where he was a handy mid-teens handicap golfer. After re-locating from Sydney, he and wife Susie were Stockton locals (until recently).
He joined the NDGA in 2016 and has served as our Treasurer since. He was instrumental in re-arranging the financial arrangements for the NDGA including new software and auditing procedures.
His candour and wise council will be sorely missed.
Our condolences are extended to his wife, Susie and family.
