Amid all the changing PHOs and Covid restrictions, GolfNSW went ahead with the premier event for Country golfers - the NSW Country Championship with the District Teams event in conjunction. This was scheduled to be played at Bathurst GC on the weekend of November 6, 7 - but the venue was shifted to Forbes GC after a clash of events.
The NDGA selected a team of form players, namely Michael Wade (c), David Alexander, Jordyn Ward, Brij Ingrey, Bryce Pickin and Jye Pickin.
The weather was a bit mixed with Saturday OK - showers and storms overnight on Saturday with showers on Sunday.
In the individual event - on Saturday the NDGA team played very well with Jye Pickin having 5 under par and 1 off the lead - and David Alexander recording 3 under par
Under more difficult course conditions on the Sunday - the team fought hard to maintain their second place in the Teams event - with Jye Pickin with 2 under and Bryce Pickin with 1 under being the standouts..
Overall, congratulations to Jye Pickin finishing 3rd with minus 7, Bryce Pickin 10th with minus 1, Brij Ingrey 28th with 6 over, Jordyn Ward 31st with 6 over, Michael Wade 33rd with 7 over and David Alexander 37th with 8 over.
Well done to all of our team - our best result in the event for some time.....
In the District's Team event held in conjunction - ACT-Monaro finished first with a total of minus 8, Newcastle finished second with minus 4 and Hunter third with even par. The team score is calculated on the best 5 of 6 scores.
A great result for the NDGA Representative Team
